Melanoma Animal Model (CAT#: STEM-AE-0088-WXH)

Introduction

Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common intraocular malignancy in adults. The incidence of UM ranges from 4.3 to 10.9 cases per million, depending on the specific criteria used to diagnose the disease. Although it is a relatively uncommon malignancy, approximately 50% of patients initially diagnosed with UM will eventually develop liver metastases within 10 to 15 years.

Applications

Research on the mechanism and treatment of melanoma.

Procedure

• Inducible models: UV-induced, chemically induced (dimethylbenzanthracene DMBA, bile acid TBA).
• Transplantation models: allograft subcutaneous model, allograft metastasis model, xenograft metastasis model.
• Transgenic model: construct transgenic melanoma models in mice by ectopically expressing oncogenes, introducing specific oncogenic mutations or inactivating tumor suppressor genes.
