Slicing Technology

In histology, sectioning refers to the service of cleanly and consistently cutting paraffin embedded or frozen tissue into a thin slice. These thin slices are referred to as sections and are then mounted to a slide. Sectioning (slicing) provides the very thin specimens needed for microscopy. It is the first step to prepare a slide of the biological material for microscopic investigation. Fresh or preserved materials are cut into thin sections at suitable plane. It is essential to cut section thin enough to observe the details at the required level.
