Kinetic Exclusion Assay (KinExA) Technology

KinExA is a relatively new technology that is gaining use in characterizing molecular interactions, particularly with respect to antibody therapeutics. Characterization of intermolecular interactions in terms of affinity, binding kinetics, stoichiometry, specificity, and thermodynamics can facilitate the selection of lead compounds in the discovery and development of protein therapeutics. The KinExA method is based on detection of only the free binding partner (A) from a sample containing both binding partner A & B. The short contact time with the solid phase only allows for free binding partner A to bind, thereby kinetically excluding the complex (A-B) from significantly dissociating.
