Photoactivated Localization Microscopy

Photoactivated localization microscopy (PALM) is a widefield (as opposed to point scanning techniques such as laser scanning confocal microscopy) fluorescence microscopy imaging method that allows obtaining images with a resolution beyond the diffraction limit. The resolution of the final image is limited by the precision of each localization and the number of localizations, instead of by diffraction. Typical applications of this method include: live cell imaging and nanophotonic interaction analysis.
