The Microm HM 505 E cryostat is a high-efficiency cryostat for electron microscopy. This Microm cryostat is an upright unit with an open top work area, providing ergonomics and convenience for the operator, whether in a standing or seated position.

A cooling system has been designed and the Microm HM 505 E cryogenic refrigerator can reduce the temperature range down to -35°C in the working area of ​​the microtome and knife carrier. This also enables the instrument to cool frozen specimens from the cryo station onto the specimen stage. The HM 505 E is equipped with a 24-hour automatic defroster with an interrupt key as well as a handwheel brake. Other optional accessories include thermal extractors and active deep freezers.

The rust-resistant HM 505 E provides protection for both the knife and the specimen as it retracts the specimen at the end of the cut. The electric coarse feed system can also move the sample back and forth, and has an automatic approach function, which ensures fast and accurate adjustment between the sample and the knife edge.

Two knife carriers are available for the Microm HM 505 E Microtome Cryostat. The Standard Holder is for easy clipping and adjustment of knives, and the Disposable Holder EC is for high and low profile blades. Corresponding anti-roll guides facilitate the removal of sections.
