The Leica 2800E frigcut is a micro freezer that allows the user to control automatic and manual evaporator defrosting. Controlled by its microprocessor, the 2800E frigcut motor drive allows vertical and horizontal specimen movement and preselection of specimen temperature as well as a freezing chamber.

The freezer of the Leica 2800E frigcut has three deep freezing stations and a manually driven microscanner. This Leica model microtome is a smooth running, stainless steel rotary type, designed to produce thin sections from 0.5 (1.0) to 60um section thickness. This microknife incorporates automatic specimen retraction on the return stroke to protect the knife and specimen from possible damage.

For safety reasons, the motor-driven handwheel is designed so that the handle is centered on the handwheel to prevent it from rotating. The freezer is an open top model that has a cooling system that can vary temperatures down to minus 40 degrees Celsius. The sample temperature can be controlled within the range of -10C to -40C without being affected by the freezer temperature.
