The Shandon Cryotome E is an automated cryostat, even for long-duration applications. The system features touch key controls with graphic specimen travel indicators and clear digital displays of cryochamber and cryobar temperatures.

The Shandon Cryotome E's precision microtome is lightweight, has a full range of travel and 360-degree specimen positioning capabilities. Stored outside the freezer, this microtome is easy to clean and maintain. The Shandong microsection freezer also has an ACCU-FEED system, which can be set at 1-20 μm intervals in 1 μm increments, 20-60 μm intervals in 5 μm increments, and 25,000 μm advance.

The well-lit, stainless steel freezer of the Cryotome E system is designed with an open top to reduce temperature gain during extended periods of use. It can extend the temperature to -30°C (-22°F). The peltier-controlled cold spot on the cryo bar facilitates rapid freezing down to -60°C (-76°F), reducing ice crystal formation. The freezer also features CFC-free refrigerant, foam insulation, and automatic programmable defrost.

In addition, Shandon Cryotome E is designed with ergonomics and safety in mind. In addition to a locking, frost-free window and a positive locking flywheel with three position locks, the system features a formaldehyde fumigated freezer.
