This ion-exchange medium is designed for purification of plasmid DNA. It selectively binds plasmid DNA while RNA, endotoxin, host-cell proteins, and other impurities are removed during washing. The medium can separate open-circular plasmid forms from supercoiled plasmid DNA. This separation increases the concentration of the desired supercoiled form. Purified plasmid DNA can be precipitated with isopropanol and washed with 70% ethanol. The recovered DNA can be used for restriction digestion, PCR, sequencing, transformation, and related molecular-biology applications. Gravity-column formats support purification quantities from 0.5 to 10 mg. Larger gravity columns can process higher plasmid quantities while maintaining purification performance. The medium can be cleaned in place and reused under controlled conditions.
