This weak cation-exchange medium is designed for purification of proteins, nucleic acids, and peptides. It uses highly crosslinked agarose functionalized with carboxymethyl groups. The weak-acid ligand provides pH-dependent binding of positively charged biomolecules. The 24-44 µm particles improve chromatographic resolution and mass transfer. A lysozyme adsorption capacity above 55 mg/mL supports preparative purification. The medium provides a maximum stated flow rate of 150 cm/h. Broad chemical compatibility allows alkaline cleaning and exposure to denaturants and ethanol. The matrix tolerates steam treatment and supports repeated high-resolution purification cycles.
