The artificial climate chamber is a high precision heating and cooling cabinet that also provides illumination and humidification. It reproduces a chosen set of environmental conditions so that plant or microbial material can be grown under repeatable settings. Typical work includes plant growth and tissue culture, seed germination, seedling raising, microbial culture tests and insect rearing. This version belongs to the II series and uses a liquid crystal PID controller running a twenty four segment program. Air is moved gently by an internal fan, which keeps conditions even at every shelf position. The stainless steel interior has rounded corners so that it can be wiped down between experiments. Shelves pull out and their spacing can be changed to suit tall vessels. An internal water tank supplies the humidifier, and the humidification heater is cut out if that water runs out. Extra functions such as external temperature protection, remote alarm messaging, serial communication and a printer can be added as options.
