ST-Q500 is a planetary ball mill designed for fine grinding, mixing, colloidal processing, and mechanical alloying. It processes soft, medium-hard, hard, and brittle samples in dry or wet conditions. A rotating sun wheel drives eccentrically positioned grinding jars. The jars rotate in the opposite direction to generate planetary motion. Repeated impact and friction between the balls and sample produce fine and uniform material. Adjustable speed and timed cycles allow processing to be matched to the sample. The configured grinding stations support single or parallel sample preparation. Locking and electronic monitoring functions help secure the chamber and drive system. The instrument supports repeatable micron and nanoscale preparation within the stated limits.
