This dextran size-exclusion medium is designed for desalting, peptide purification, biological-extract cleanup, and molecular-weight determination. It consists of crosslinked dextran with a three-dimensional pore network. Molecular components are separated according to their hydrodynamic dimensions. Large molecules are excluded from more pores and therefore elute earlier. Intermediate molecules enter part of the matrix and show moderate retention. Smaller molecules penetrate a larger internal volume and elute later. The medium particle size is suited to general preparative fractionation. Its stated separation range is 3000-80000 Da.
