Senior Optical Scientist

Job Description

A senior optical scientist capable of developing and implementing optical and spectroscopic measurements to support product development, manufacturing, and applications. You'll need to work with scientists in the research and manufacturing, developing test methods and transferring technologies that satisfy manufacturing planning. You'll also need to work with the commercial technology/private equity team to learn client needs and roadmaps, supporting measurement strategy development.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute knowledge and technical support/leadership regarding critical optical-related products
• Develop expertise in optical measurement and analysis
• Provide technical consultation and expertise to commercial organizations and/or directly with clients
• Evaluate commercial products
• Perform experiment design and analysis to support client technical value proposition
• Work with commercial technology leaders to learn customer needs and technology roadmaps, support measurement strategy development

Qualifications

• MS/Ph.D. in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Physics
• Solid laboratory work experience
• Knowledge of modern optics and physics
• Analytical problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to build relationships and interact with teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
