Description

This hydrophobic interaction chromatography medium is designed for separation of biological macromolecules. It uses a high-flow agarose matrix functionalized with phenyl groups. The strong hydrophobic ligand interacts with exposed hydrophobic regions on proteins and other biomolecules. Samples bind under elevated salt conditions and elute as salt concentration is reduced. Differences in surface hydrophobicity provide the basis for chromatographic separation. The medium offers high protein capacity and rapid linear flow. Spherical particles support uniform bed packing and reproducible purification. Broad pH and chemical stability permit repeated cleaning and regeneration. The medium is suitable for capture, intermediate purification, and polishing of compatible biomolecules.
