Immunoprecipitation (IP) is one of the most useful immunochemical techniques available today. IPs are commonly used to determine the presence and amount of antigens, molecular weight of polypeptides, rates of synthesis or degradation, recognition of certain post-translational modifications, and interactions with other proteins, nucleic acids, and ligands. IPs consist of four main steps:

1. Antigen labeling (optional step).
2. Release of antigen by cell lysis.
3. Formation of antibody-antigen complexes.
4. Purify immune complexes.

G-Biosciences Direct Immunoprecipitation Kits contain all reagents needed to accomplish all aspects of immunoprecipitation, except labeling. This kit utilizes our Amine Reactive HOOK™ activated agarose covalently conjugated antibody. The covalently conjugated antibody is then retained on the agarose during elution to prevent contamination of the immunoprecipitated antigen by the antibody. This kit is designed for efficient immunoprecipitation using <10 µg of antibody. The kit is suitable for 50 reactions using 10 μl of immobilized antibody.
