ProteoGuard EDTA-Free Protease Inhibitor Cocktail is a complete, optimized blend of protease inhibitors specifically designed to protect proteins from digestion by endogenous proteases that are released during protein extraction from cell lysates.

ProteoGuard EDTA-Free Protease Inhibitor Cocktail 100X stock solution is easy to use and comes prepackaged for single-use application. It is not provided in tablet form, so there is no need to wait for the tablet to dissolve before use. Simply dispense the desired amount of protease inhibitor (10 μl per 1 ml) into the buffer or lysis reagent prior to protein extraction from cultured cells, animal tissue, plant tissue, yeast or bacteria. ProteoGuard EDTA-Free Protease Inhibitor Cocktail is compatible with a variety of cell lysis reagents.

Protease activity in pancreatic extracts was measured using a protease activity assay. The ability of the ProteoGuard EDTA-Free Protease Inhibitor Cocktail to inhibit the activity of common proteases was compared to a commercially available ProteoGuard Protease Inhibitor Cocktail from competitor p. The assay used 15 µg of protein (casein), 600 µg of pancreatic extract, and 5 µl of each protease inhibitor cocktail at a starting concentration of 100-fold. Inhibition rates were calculated based on the protease activity without any combination of inhibitors compared to the protease activity in the presence of each combination of inhibitors. ProteoGuard EDTA-Free Protease Inhibitor Cocktail group demonstrated protease inhibition (84%) better than competitor P (54.5%).
