This weak cation-exchange medium is designed for downstream purification of proteins, nucleic acids, and peptides. It uses high-flow agarose functionalized with carboxymethyl groups. The weak-acid ligand provides selective binding controlled by process pH and ionic strength. The 45-165 µm particles support high permeability and relatively low backpressure. A lysozyme adsorption capacity of 60 mg/mL supports preparative capture and intermediate purification. The medium provides a maximum stated flow rate of 750 cm/h. Broad chemical compatibility supports alkaline cleaning and exposure to denaturants and ethanol. The matrix withstands the specified steam-treatment conditions for repeated process use.
