Description

The WhaleWave wave bioreactor is designed for suspension cell culture using a rocking motion to provide mixing and oxygen transfer. A single-use cell culture bag is placed on the rocking platform to maintain cell suspension and aeration. Compared with stirred-tank systems, the mixing process is gentler and helps reduce shear-related cell damage. The rocking movement increases gas-liquid surface contact and supports efficient nutrient and oxygen transfer. The system is suitable for shear-sensitive cell culture, cell seed expansion, and quality manufacturing standard production of personalized therapy products. The single-use culture bag reduces handling complexity and contamination risk. The bag material is supported by validation documentation covering physicochemical properties, extractables and leachables, and biocompatibility. The control platform supports monitoring and automatic control of key culture parameters.
