Tissue Processor BK-TS2B, 12 Reagent Stations (CAT#: STEM-AL2-2373-ZJF)

The tissue processor carries specimens automatically through the reagents needed to prepare them for embedding. Cassettes are loaded into a basket which is moved from station to station by the mechanism. Water is first replaced by increasing concentrations of alcohol, then a clearing agent is used, and finally molten paraffin infiltrates the block. Each step is timed individually, and the basket can be agitated during a step so reagent reaches the tissue evenly. The machine holds twelve stations, nine containing reagent and three containing paraffin. Drain time is adjustable, which reduces the amount of reagent carried from one station to the next and lengthens reagent life. The chamber is enclosed and its exhaust is treated before discharge, which limits exposure to reagent vapour. Because an uninterruptible supply is fitted, a run continues for many hours after a mains failure rather than losing the specimens. Heating is controlled without a water bath, so there is no standing water to maintain and the temperature is held more closely.
