The Thomas Scientific Model 4 Wiley Mill is specifically designed to increase productivity and minimize maintenance losses. Equipped with the proven Thomas Scientific shear action, the Type 4 Mill can be used in a variety of grinding applications. The steel cutting edge on the knife also allows milling of a wider range of materials, including plastics. The Thomas Model 4 Wiley® cutter is ideal for preparing solid biofuel samples according to EN 1478.

The Model 4, a mill very popular with plant scientists, is a mill of choice. The grinding chamber of the Model 4 is equipped with the right tools to suit any grinding procedure. The knife is specially formulated for durability and optimal cutting with a stainless steel inlaid edge. The steel hopper attached to the top of the grinding chamber also has an enamelled exterior finish with a sliding plate at the base showing the hopper to control the feed rate.

The Thomas Model 4 Wiley® Mill features a versatile tank chute thread to take standard mason glass jars up to 2 qt. (1.8 L) capacity. Jars allow for viewing finished products and also for storing samples. The beaker chute has no spout and spring-loaded runners hold it securely to the adapter plate to prevent sample loss. As part of its robust design, the Model 4 drive unit motor is a continuous duty enclosed ball bearing type with thermal overload cut-off and requires no lubrication for many years. Its safety switch prevents operation when the chamber is open.
