The KJ502-36 sampling swab is a disposable specimen collection tool designed for the collection of microbiological, virological, or nucleic acid samples from clinical and environmental sources. It consists of an absorbent swab tip-available in flocked nylon, polyester, cotton, or other materials-mounted on a flexible or rigid shaft for targeted sample access. Flocked swab tips are engineered with a perpendicular fiber orientation that maximizes surface area contact and enhances sample uptake and elution efficiency compared to wound-fiber designs. The shaft is designed with a specific breakpoint position allowing detachment of the swab tip into a collection tube for transport, elution, or direct molecular testing. Transport media variants are pre-filled with Amies, Stuart, or Cary-Blair formulations to maintain viability of aerobic, anaerobic, and fastidious organisms during transit. ATP detection swab variants incorporate chemiluminescent reagents for rapid environmental hygiene monitoring and surface contamination assessment. Nasopharyngeal swabs feature a flexible, fine-gauge shaft with a small, soft tip designed for atraumatic collection of upper respiratory tract specimens. The product is manufactured under Quality Management Standard 13485-compliant quality management and is available in sterile individually-wrapped or bulk-pack configurations. Sterilization is performed by EO or gamma irradiation depending on the intended clinical application and tip material. Female-specific and male-specific swabs are available in configurations optimized for gynecological and urological specimen collection procedures.
