The ion concentration meter measures the activity of specific ions in solution as well as pH and redox potential. An ion selective electrode is immersed in the sample, and the potential developed across its membrane depends on the activity of the target ion. The reading can be presented in several concentration units, so no separate calculation is needed afterwards. Fourteen ion modes are built in, covering the species most often encountered in water, food and environmental testing. Calibration can be automatic at between one and five points, which suits both screening work and careful quantitative analysis. Besides direct reading, the instrument supports the addition method and Gran plots for samples where the matrix is difficult. Results are stored together with their unit, temperature and time, and can be printed wirelessly or moved to a computer. The large screen shows all relevant values at once rather than requiring the user to page between them. A dust and splash resistant housing allows the meter to be used at a wet bench.
