Protein A and protein G bind to the Fc region of IgG antibodies and have different selectivities for IgG subtypes. Therefore, PhyTip columns for Protein a and Protein G can be used to purify IgG antibodies and IgG fragments containing the Fc region. However, due to higher selectivity for certain IgG subtypes and species, protein G is preferred over protein A in some cases, such as human IgG3 or rat IgG2a.

Our Protein G PhyTip columns demonstrate the ability to extract functional IgG antibodies with very high purity from varying levels of background proteins due to their high binding affinity and high capacity.
