The Soil Irrometer Tensiometer measures soil water potential using a combination of a pressure gauge, acrylic tube, and ceramic probe. After filling the acrylic tube with water, the ceramic probe maintains a seal against external air. When a pressure difference exists between the tensiometer and the surrounding soil, water moves until equilibrium is reached. At that point, the gauge reading represents the soil water potential, providing critical data for irrigation and soil moisture management.
