Magnetic Stir Bar 18900722 (CAT#: STEM-BC-1994-ZJF)

The 18900722 is a PTFE-coated magnetic stir bar designed for use with laboratory magnetic stirrers to provide contactless liquid mixing. The strong magnetic core couples with the rotating magnetic field of the stirrer plate to generate consistent vortex motion in the sample vessel. The PTFE coating is chemically inert, providing compatibility with aqueous solutions, organic solvents, acids, and bases. PTFE is also autoclave-compatible, allowing the stir bar to be sterilized for use in sterile or biological applications. The stir bar is available in multiple geometries including cylindrical, octagonal, cross-shaped, and triangular to suit different vessel formats. Multiple size options allow selection of the most appropriate bar length and diameter for the sample volume and vessel dimensions. The smooth, rounded ends of standard stir bars minimize particle generation and vessel abrasion during operation. A stir bar retriever or magnetic wand is used to remove the bar from the sample vessel without contamination. This stir bar is compatible with all standard laboratory magnetic stirrer plates with ceramic, glass, or stainless steel surfaces.
