Amine Active HOOK™ Activated Agarose is 6% agarose that has been activated to produce active aldehyde groups. The aldehyde groups of agarose react spontaneously with primary amines on the N-terminus of proteins or lysine residues to form intermediate Schiff base complexes. These, in turn, are selectively reductively aminated, using sodium cyanoborohydride to form stable amine bonds between the agarose and the ligand. For generating peptide and protein affinity columns, for purifying antibodies, and for discovering important interacting proteins and cofactors, G-Biosciences provides activated agarose for coupling peptides and proteins to agarose through their primary amines.
