The forced air drying oven is a heated chamber with fan circulation used to dry, bake and heat treat non volatile material. Air is drawn over a heater at the rear of the chamber and distributed by a fan, which gives a uniform condition at every shelf. Typical loads include laboratory glassware, sample material, electronic components and culture vessels needing dry heat treatment. Temperature is set on a liquid crystal display, and an offset calibration allows the reading to be corrected against a reference. An over temperature alarm and automatic fault detection stop an unnoticed excursion from continuing. The fan has its own switch so that convection can be used only for work that benefits from it. A long range timer closes or a heating period automatically, with a stated timing error at or below one percent. The chamber is made of stainless steel and the oven can be fitted with castors if it has to be moved regularly.
