DeRoyal DeROM^® Dynamic Ankle Splints manufactured by DeRoyal are ideal for plantar flexion soft tissue contractures, range of motion (ROM) limitations, or joint stiffness resulting from trauma, immobilization, or neurological disorders. Dynamic splinting applies a low amount of force to the affected joint for a prolonged period of time with little or no discomfort to the patient to achieve a permanent stretch of the soft tissue and permanent restoration of the joint's ROM. Different from some products that try to force the foot upward toward the leg to provide stretch, the DeROM^® Ankle Splint applies a force between the calf and the heel to mimic manual therapy where the physical therapist holds the calf and reaches behind the foot to pull downward on the heel to stretch the contracted tissues.
The DeROM^® Ankle is designed for weight bearing and wear during therapy, transfers, and walking, the rear piston design initiating heel strike for proper gait. In addition, the Dynamic Ankle Splint features Allen wrench for adjustment of inversion or eversion. DeRoyal Dynamic Ankle Splint features malleable Wire-Foam^™ cuffs for a customized fit. DeROM^® Ankle is universal for use with the left or right leg and is available in three sizes for a comfortable fit.
