This preparative chromatography column uses purified water or a compatible solvent mixture as the hydraulic pressure source. The hydraulic medium can also be the same eluent used by the preparative liquid chromatography process. This design replaces the high-pressure oil cylinder used in conventional dynamic axial compression columns. Eliminating hydraulic oil reduces the risk of process contamination. The liquid-pressure architecture is suitable for production environments with strict cleanliness requirements. It also reduces the installation space required around the column. The design provides significant weight reduction for large-diameter equipment. This lower equipment mass is beneficial where floor-loading capacity is restricted. The column can be configured for different preparative chromatography processes and operating solvents.
