Description

Aquacel Ag is a major wound dressing composed of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC), which contains 1.2% silver ions.
The dressing can absorb and interact with wound exudate to create a soft, hydrophilic, breathable gel that captures bacteria conforms to the outlines of the wound, while providing a microenvironment that is proven to be beneficial for healing.
If the wound exudate contains sodium ions, silver ions will be released from NaCMC and exertsustained antibacterial effects against a variety of organisms such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), thereby prevent dressing from colonizing and protects the wound by estabishing an antimicrobial barrier.
