Ultrasound Bone Densitometer LD-100 is the first device in the world to measure bone density and bone thickness by detecting two waves (fast and slow) that appear when an ultrasound wave travels in the radius (wrist). In cancellous bone, there are ultrasound-specific propagation phenomena, that is, "fast waves" related to trabecular bone and "slow waves" related to bone marrow. The device can measure the speed of sound and the attenuation of these two waves, and quantitatively obtain bone density and bone thickness by using original computing systems and high-sensitivity sensors. In addition, the device can measure not only the bone density for the measurement of bone strength, but also the elasticity of cancellous bone, which has attracted much attention as an indicator of bone quality.
