A-Type PTFE Magnetic Stir Bar, 5 × 10 to 25 × 70 mm (CAT#: STEM-BC-3490-ZJF)

The A-Type PTFE magnetic stir bar is designed for use with laboratory magnetic stirrers. A permanent magnet is completely sealed inside a PTFE body. The sealed construction isolates the magnetic core from the processed liquid. Multiple diameter and length combinations support vessels and liquid volumes of different sizes. PTFE provides resistance to strong acids, strong alkalis, and many organic solvents. The material can withstand working temperatures up to 280°C and retains stated toughness at temperatures down to -196°C. Long-term use can cause surface wear or gradual loss of magnetic strength, which may reduce vortex formation and stirring performance. The stir bar should therefore be inspected regularly and replaced when obvious wear or insufficient residual magnetism is observed.
