Introduction

Atherosclerosis (As) is an arterial disease and the main pathological basis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Animals that can be used as models include rabbits, chickens, mice, pigs and monkeys. Among them, the mouse is a commonly used species to establish the model, which has the characteristics of rapid reproduction, easy genetic manipulation, and monitoring of atherosclerosis formation within a reasonable time frame. At present, the main methods for establishing models include high-fat diet, drug injection, arterial intima injury, gene knockout, and usually use high-fat diet and other methods at the same time to achieve the best effect.

Applications

• Study the pathogenesis and treatment of atherosclerosis.
• Drug development, drug screening and efficacy research.

Procedure

2. Injection of drugs or mechanical damage to the intima of blood vessels to form atherosclerosis.
3. Model Evaluation.
