Description

The GE Amersham Pharmacia AKTA pilot is a purpose-built automated liquid chromatography (LC) system designed for development, scale-up and production processes. This biocompatible, hygienic and sterilizable system can decontaminate products in milligrams up to tens of grams. As the industry's gold standard, the GE Amersham Pharmacia AKTA pilot LC system meets all Good Laboratory Practice and Current Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines required for drug development and final scale production phases I-III.

The GE Amersham Pharmacia AKTA Pilot System is a complete system containing all fluid handling components for smooth delivery and mixing, sample application and in-line monitoring.

Pre-programmed method templates and optimized system configurations allow for rapid media screening, method screening and optimization, and scale-up experiments, minimizing preparation time. Dedicated method templates provide the most common scouting procedures, including automated media screening and automatic eluent pH scouting for ion exchange chromatography. By adjusting the flow rate, sample application and column packing are also facilitated, while pressure can be monitored at four points. UNICORN software can display conductivity, UV and pH monitoring. Additional screens can also be connected to the system for special purposes. GE Amersham Pharmacia AKTA pilot units are equipped with hygienic sensors for continuous in-line measurement of pH, conductivity and UV absorption. These detectors provide accurate and reliable monitoring through self-test and self-calibration. The flow cells are placed together and are easily accessible from the front panel for easy maintenance. As a result, the bandwidth and delay between detectors are reduced.
