This hydrophobic interaction chromatography medium is designed for purification of antibodies, proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, and related biomacromolecules. It uses a polyacrylate matrix with a hydrophilically modified surface. Phenyl groups provide the hydrophobic interaction sites required for separation. Biomolecules adsorb to the medium under high-salt conditions according to their surface hydrophobicity. Reducing the salt concentration elutes molecules in order of increasing hydrophobic interaction strength. The 1000 Å pore structure supports access by large biological molecules. The rigid particles provide high flow, useful binding capacity, and stable chromatographic resolution. The medium can be regenerated with low-ionic-strength buffer and cleaned with sodium hydroxide or ethanol.
