The Recombinant Rat IL-4 Protein manufactured by Seafrom is suitable for studying anti-inflammatory effects and immune responses. IL-4 is a pleiotropic cytokine that regulates various T cell and B cell responses, including cell proliferation, survival, and gene expression. It is produced by macrophages, T cells, and bone marrow stromal cells and plays a role in regulating the differentiation of naive CD4+ T cells into helper Th2 cells. Its cytokine secretion profile includes the production of IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-13, which are favorable for humoral immune responses. Another major function of IL-4 is to regulate the switching of immunoglobulins to the IgG1 and IgE isotypes. Excessive IL-4 production by Th2 cells is associated with the production of IgE and allergies. The lyophilized formulation can be stored at 2-8°C for 24 months. If further dilution is required, it can be reconstituted with injection-grade water, physiological saline, culture medium, or PBS. Once reconstituted, it should be aliquoted, and the aliquots should be stored at -20°C for 6 months or at -80°C for 12 months, with a post-dilution concentration not less than 100 μg/mL, while avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
