Description

Vanadium Carbide (V4C3Tx), is a typical representative material among the emerging family of 2D layered transition metal carbides and/or nitrides referred to as MXenes. It has exhibited multiple advantages such as metallic conductivity, a plastic layer structure, small band gaps, and the hydrophilic nature of its functionalized surface.
Distinct from other MXenes, V4C3Tx MXene offers many advantages, including greater interlayer spacing, better structural durability, and high specific capacity, which are essential for the fabrication of high-performance anodes for LIBs and SIBs. Besides its excellent mechanical properties and thermal stability, V4C3Tx MXene possesses excellent metallic properties due to its narrow band gap at the Fermi level. Meanwhile, the vanadium metal (V) in V4C3Tx MXene has a prosperous valence state from +2 to +5, which may enhance the electrochemical performance of LIBs and SIBs.
