These Oligo dT magnetic microspheres are designed for selective extraction of messenger RNA. They use monodisperse polystyrene-based particles containing embedded magnetite. The encapsulation process limits magnetic-material leakage that could interfere with downstream enzyme activity. A specialized surface provides low nonspecific adsorption during nucleic-acid purification. Oligo dT(25) chains are covalently attached to the particle surface. The immobilized oligonucleotides bind strongly to Poly(A) tails on mRNA molecules. Covalent ligand attachment provides stability and supports repeated use under appropriate conditions. The particles are available in two sizes and provide a defined mRNA-binding capacity.
