Description

The SpectraMax® 190 Absorbance Microplate Reader is the ideal device for many life science applications, including DNA analysis. Capable of detecting 25ng of DNA per well, this model provides users with the same sensitivity as conventional systems to produce precise nucleic acid measurements.

Molecular Devices' PathCheck® sensor technology, incorporated into the SpectraMax® 190, improves precision in handling aqueous solutions. This innovative feature allows the model to sense the depth of liquid in each microplate and normalize absorbance values to a 1 cm path length. The corrected absorbance is within 5% of the value measured by a conventional spectrophotometer.

Instrument linearity is also improved by a factor of three or more with PathCheck® sensors. Highly concentrated samples use a minimum volume or 100 μl in the microwell with a path length of approximately 0.30 cm. The sensor technology works by calculating absorbance values for an equivalent 1 cm path length, which far exceeds the capabilities of other instruments.

Industry-leading microplate analysis software provides the SpectraMax 190 with comprehensive instrument control and data reduction means.

Spectral Scanning makes assay development easy. Operators can select the optimal wavelength to read any analysis by viewing the full spectrum of the sample. This approach enables equipment operators to monitor sample or reagent stability and identify interfering compounds or assay conditions. Spectral scanning can also be used to compare test results to regulatory standards.
