The center layer of foam in the Lumex Bed Mattress is medium density to provide additional support for the softer top layer, while the bottom layer is high density foam in order to provide support which extends the mattress life as well as enhances comfort. The sloped heel section helps reduce heel pressure, a danger zone for pressure sores, through the use of smaller cells to address the sensitive pressure reduction needs of the heels and ankles. While the optional defined perimeter (DPM) with side egress cut out reduces the need for bed side rails.
The zippered cover features a breathable top cover that moves with the patient to reduce shearing and skin breakdown.
