This multi-angle light-scattering detector is designed for molecular characterization of synthetic polymers, polysaccharides, proteins, and biomacromolecules. It combines multi-angle and low-angle light-scattering measurements in one instrument. The detector measures scattering at fixed angles of 10°, 90°, and 170°. An extended flow-path design replaces a conventional flow-cell arrangement. A 505 nm green diode laser provides approximately three times the scattering intensity of a conventional 660 nm red laser under the stated comparison. Efficient light collection and reduced noise improve sensitivity to low-concentration or smaller species. A new angular-asymmetry calculation method supports radius-of-gyration measurements below 10 nm. Compatible software can control the connected GPC system, acquire multichannel data, and perform molecular-weight and size calculations.
