Among the common types, DPBS (Dulbecco’s Phosphate-Buffered Saline) and PBS (Phosphate-Buffered Saline) are basic physiological saline buffers containing only essential inorganic salts. These solutions are not nutrient-enriched and thus do not support long-term cell proliferation unless supplemented with additional growth factors or serum.
