The five-hole test box for rats and mice has five holes on the curved surface of the box, and infrared nose-poke detectors and LED lights are installed in the holes. The 5/9-hole box is mainly used for attention test experiments, taking the 5-hole choice reaction experiment (Five Choice Serial Reaction Time) as an example. The system lights up an LED in one of the holes as a signal. If the animal correctly explores a certain hole within a preset time, it will reward it with a pill (or liquid). The accuracy of multiple experiments is an effective indicator of animal attention.
