BPEYA, Petri Dish Type (CAT#: STEM-CC-4302-LC)

BPEYA (Baird-Parker Agar with Egg Yolk Tellurite) is a selective medium specifically formulated for the isolation and identification of coagulase-positive Staphylococci, particularly Staphylococcus aureus. The addition of Egg Yolk Tellurite to the base Baird-Parker formulation inhibits competing flora while allowing typical S. aureus colonies to appear black with surrounding halo formation, differentiating them from other microorganisms that may produce brown colonies or are completely suppressed.
