Beckman Coulter XE-90K Ultracentrifuge, 1000 to 90000 rpm, model XE-90K, is manufactured by Beckman Coulter. It is a current model preparative model centrifuge used for pelleting fine particulate fractions such as nucleic acids, DNA, cellular organelles, microsomes, and viruses. What’s under the hood is the same Optima reliability of the entire ultra line. This Beckman ultracentrifuge can also be used for gradient separations and protein purification, and features a dynamic temperature regulation system which efficiently maintains optimal processing temperature. Designed with a shallow rotor recess, the Optima™ XE-90K offers most users a convenient operating height. The vacuum encased induction drive is essentially frictionless and will provide YEARS of trouble free operation-the pretty much don’t wear out! The big change in the XE line and specifically the Optima™ XE-90K system is that it is equipped with a touch screen interface which enables the user to manage and control temperature, RPM, accel/decel, and time settings. RPM settings are allowed to reach up to 70,000. The XE Series operates using the Dynamic Rotor Inertia Check (DRIC) function. This feature can recognize imbalances in the rotor, thereby preventing system failure and equipment damage before the unit performs actual separations. Other features of the Beckman Optima™ XE-90K centrifuge include a built-in rotor and tube catalog, intelligent logging software, dual display of “set” and “actual” run parameters, and simple user setup which involves automatic preheating, pre-cooling, vacuum, and dry cycle.
