Description

Beckman Coulter Vi-CELL XR Automated Cell Viability Analyzer, 2 µm – 70 µm, model Vi-CELL XR, is manufactured by Beckman Coulter. GMI sells re-certified calibrated Vi-CELL Cell Viability Analyzers. The Vi-CELL provides an automatic and cost effective means to perform the trypan blue dye exclusion method for cell viability analysis. This data is essential to the decision making process for basic tissue culture cell passage and maintaining optimum culture conditions in bioreactors. Cell and tissue culture applications in life science research, including recombinant protein and biopharmaceutical production, require the accuracy, precision and automation available only in the Vi-CELL cell viability analyzer. Compared to a manual hemacytometer, the Beckman ViCell automates a formerly laborious process with extremely high accuracy and reliability.
The Vi-CELL allows users to load up to 10 samples at once for easy and automated cell counting. A cell sample is loaded into the system (minimum 600uL, but can be diluted and dilution factored into final result), and the instrument aspirates the sample, mixes in the trypan blue, loads the sample into the chamber and records: cell count/mL(equivalent of 100 “grids”), percent viability, and size distribution. It then performs a clean cycle and repeats for the next sample in the carousel. Sample processing time is approximately 2.5 minutes per sample, although there are several user programmable features that can reduce or increase this time.
The automated trypan blue staining procedure can be customized to ensure consistent and accurate cell counts for simple systems such as CHO cells and more complex samples such as yeast. The robust design provides many years of duty, and can be operated by individuals with a wide variety of skill levels. The high quality, pre-mixed reagents help eliminate variability.
