Introduction
GHRL encodes the ghrelin-obesstatin preproprotein, which produces ghrelin and obestatin. Ghrelin is a ligand of growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1, which is involved in regulating the release of growth hormone. Ghrelin has an appetite-stimulating effect, induces obesity, and stimulates gastric acid secretion.
